Who is Rahool Kanal, sena leader who vandalized the study of Mumbai’s habitat? – Firstpost

Rahool Kanal, a popular youth leader of Shiv Sena and a help of Aaditya Thackery, found himself in the middle of a great controversy. He led a group of party workers in the Vandalizing Mumbai habitat study after comedian Kunal Kamra made controversial comments on the deputy minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde during a stand-up performance.

The attack took place late on Sunday evening, presumably in response to Kamra’s song Parodia and his reference to Shinde as “Gaddar” (traitor). Kanal and many others were arrested immediately after the accident, but a local court granted them the deposit on the same day.

Defending his actions, Kanal warned Kamra from criticizing the leaders of Shiv Sena. Speaking with the media, he said: “This is just a trailer. If someone says something derogatory on our senior leader or on our elderly, we will not save them. Every time you (Kamra) are in Mumbai, you will get a good Shiv Sena style lesson.”

But who exactly is Rahool Kanal? How did he and others bag the habitat? Here is everything you need to know.

The ten -year association of Kanal with Shiv Sena

Rahool Kanal, 39 years old, is the secretary general of Yuva Sena, the youth wing of theknath Shiv sena led by Shinde. His association with the party dates back to 2010, when Aaditya Thackeray founded the youth wing of the then Shiv Sena.

Starting from a basic worker, Kanal was appointed First District President of Yuva Sena in Mumbai. Over the years, he has climbed the ranks, becoming a member of the Committee and a nearby Aaditya Thackery helper.

However, in July 2023, he separated with Shiv Sena (UBT), quoting differences with leaders such as Suraj Chavan and Varun Sardeasai. He also expressed frustration for Aaditya Thackery leadership. Shortly thereafter, he joined the Shinde faction and became a key figure in his Yuva Sena.

During the elections of the Maharashtra assembly, Kanal played a crucial role in the digital party campaign. As head of the state of his strategy on social media, he worked to counter the accusations made by the faction of Thackeray against the government and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Bollywood & Business

A well -known figure in the luxury of Bandra di Mumbai, Kanal has close ties with different celebrities of Bollywood and sporting personalities. His circle includes Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Anushka Sharma, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav.

He even owns a restaurant named Bhaijaanz, who took his name from Salman Khan.

In addition to politics and entertainment, Kanal is involved in philanthropy. It manages several NGOs, including “I Love Mumbai”, which focuses on the support of disadvantaged communities and on the rescue of street animals. It was also active in the social responsibility initiatives of companies (CSR).

Its influence extends to religious and civic institutions. He was appointed Shari Saibaba Sansthan Trust (SSST) trusted trustee and worked as a member of the BMC education committee in 2017.

Past disputes

Kanal is not extraneous to the controversy.

In 2022, the Department of Income Taxes broke into Mumbai as part of an investigation on an alleged Hawala racket that involved the leader of Shiv Sena Yashwant Jadhav, who was then the president of the BMC permanent committee.

However, the sources said The Indian Express that research has not established any connection between the case of Kanal and Jadhav. Instead, they were related to a separate application for suspected tax evasion.

Kanal was also attracted to the storm surrounding the 2020 deaths of Disha Salian and Sushant Singh Rajput.

Bjp Mla Nitesh Rane, who is now minister, has accused Aaditya Thackery and his helpers of being involved in case. Kanal, who was named in the accusations, replied strongly.

“Social media are a responsible platform. I will not bow to the irresponsible online bullying by anyone. Taking the legal appeal as a lawyer … the notice of defamation to Mr. Rane will be needed on his unjust accusations,” he said.

His involvement in the Kunal Kamra case

His performance touched the changing political landscape of the Maharashtra, in particular the divisions within Shiv Sena and the PCN. At a certain point, Kamra sang, “Meri Nazar Se Tum Dekho a Gaddar Nazar Wo Aaye. Haaye”, mocking the fictional divisions.

This did not go well with the members of the Shiv Sena (Shinde Faction). In retaliation, a crowd of about 20 party workers, led by Rahool Kanal,
the study of the habitat stormed Sunday evening, vandalizing the headquarters and causing significant damage.
