A man who declares himself guilty of having killed his mother in Neshanck Township in 2022 will spend the next decades in prison.

The 39 -year -old Shane McDevitt declared himself guilty of third degree murder and strangulation crimes, as well as two counts for crime of possession of crime tools.

The accusations derive from the death of the 65 -year -old Cecilia Liposky, who died in a house on the Block of Mercer Road in May 2022.

According to a criminal complaint, the police found Liposky at home lying on the floor with blood scattered around her. His cause of death was determined to be a blunt trauma in his head.

The police found a decorative piece in round glass, as well as a hammer smeared with blood near Liposky’s body.

The police say that McDevitt, who is Liposky’s son, was at home in the days preceding the murder. The police say that his vehicle was at home when the police found the body, but the Liposky vehicle was missing.

The following morning, the police saw Liposky’s vehicle on the road and tried to stop him, guiding the police in a chase that ended with the vehicle that crashed into a utility pole according to the complaint.

The police found McDevitt in the truck and arrested him. According to the complaint, when he was brought to the police station, he admitted to the police that he killed Liposky without the police asking him.

During an interview with the police, McDevitt also admitted that he repeatedly hit Lipostky with the piece of round glass and the claw hammer.

McDevitt was sentenced to 50 years in prison in a common court of the county of Lawrence on Friday.
